Food & Drink | Five of the craziest home-made BBQs you'll ever see

For a new installment of JOE's BBQ King in association with Bulmers, we scoured the interwebs to find the most memorable BBQ grills and pits around.

Tired of conventional and dare we say it, "boring" BBQ pits and grills? The creators behind these crazy options certainly were.

Volkswagen Beetle Car-B-Q

No, we can't take credit for the "Car-B-Q" play on words but is there anything better that could be done if someone finds themselves in possession of one-third of a vintage VW Beetle? We think not.

Six Shooter BBQ Grill

Granted, no BBQ grill could ever top this effort. Ever.

In fact, we would understand perfectly if guests drooled over this design rather than the food created within. Amazingly, the grill took two years and 1,100 hours to complete for Texas native Joe Wood, using over two tons of red oak and carbon steel. Worth it though.

Death Star-B-Q

Legend tells of a tiny hole on the underside of this grill which if triggered, causes the entire grill to spontaneously combust. Oh wait... this is based on Return of the Jedi's work in progress Death Star? In that case, the hole's probably been patched up. Whew.

Motorcycle BBQ Pit

Last but not least, the BBQ pit that can you literally bring anywhere with you - the Motorcycle BBQ Pit. It's so manly that we're surprised that it doesn't come with a free beard or have dinosaur decals.

This creation was commissioned by Andrew Fisher, owner of the New York restaurant ROB, who asked Orange County Chopper to build "the sickest, baddest thing in the world". It's not a six-shooter BBQ but it certainly pushes it pretty close in the awesome stakes.
