SK Real Estate disbands; former agents create Eastside ...

Terry Blankenship, upper left, started Eastside Commercial Real Estate after working at SK Real Estate since the early 90's. Blankenship?s team consists of his son, Eric Blankenship, upper right, Mary Etter, bottom left, and Debbie Roberts, bottom right.

After 53 years of service, SK Real Estate in Kennewick has closed.

EverStar Realty Owner Gayle Stack said her business has taken over the company?s property management and four of its real estate agents, including former SK Real Estate owner Jerry Bastin have come to work for her.

In the meantime all commercial property listings and transactions in process have been assigned to a new company, Eastside Commercial Real Estate.

Eastside Commercial is under the direction of the same individuals who worked at SK Real Estate.

?All the residential people went to other brokerages, but the commercials all stayed together,? said Terry Blankenship, owner of Eastside Commercial Real Estate.

Blankenship started the commercial division at SK Real Estate in 1996 and has more than 15 years of commercial real estate experience and another 25 years of financial management experience.

?Actually we?ve been acting as kind of an independent group inside another company for probably about 16 years,? Blankenship said. ?This is exciting. We?re off on our own, we all know what we need to do ? we all know our roles.?

The brokers who made the switch with Blankenship include his son Eric Blankenship, Mary Etter, and Debbie Roberts.

Blankenship said his son, Eric, has worked with him as a broker for about 10 years. He and Etter, a commercial broker, have worked together about14 years. Roberts, who is also a broker, is the company?s property manager.?

While Blankenship has plenty of experience under his belt he said he never thought he?d be making a living in sales.

?I just had a misinterpretation of what a sales person was,? he said. ?I thought they were kind of pushy and they were there to try and get you to buy something you didn?t really need or want. But after I got into real estate I found out that was exactly the opposite of what I found sales to be. What I am is a facilitator to try and help other people reach their goals and dreams.?

It?s something he did while under the SK Real Estate umbrella and something he plans to continue with Eastside Commercial.

?It?s going to be a very easy transition,? Blankenship said. ?We will be offering the same services we always have, the same level of quality and the same personnel, so it?s pretty seamless.?

Eastside Commercial Real Estate can be found at 8905 Gage Blvd. Ste. 209 in Kennewick. Blankenship chose the location because it?s central and because he and his wife co-own the building with another couple.

Eastside Commercial offers services in property sales, leasing, property management, broker opinion of value, commercial property development assistance and consulting on project financing.
