October Through March
This is when the majority of tourists choose to visit the area. The winter season is a boom for the location and people flock to the beaches to enjoy the sun and atmosphere the area offers its guests. Hurricane season has come and gone and the sun is shining. While the weather in Playa del Carmen may never be better, this isn't a secret. Therefore, you'll need to understand that you're going to be vacationing with the hordes. Some people don't mind this. After all, the throng of tourists also means that all of the tourist activities are in full swing. If you want a quieter vacation, however, you might want to go at another time.
April Through May
Starting around March, the sun begins heating up the beaches. The ocean temperatures may not start rising until summer, but you can believe that it will be plenty hot out on the sands by the middle of April. The weather in Playa del Carmen is known for its rains throughout the summer months, and they usually start in earnest during the month of April. On the plus side, however, you aren't likely to battle many crowd during this time period, unless you are unlucky enough to plan your vacation around Spring Break.
June through September
It all comes down to this question: how hot do you like it? Some peopleusually younger vacationersdon't mind the heat and prefer it to the cooler temperatures of winter. Others will find this time of the year very off-putting. While it is known as the rainy season, these rains usually come quickly in the afternoon and disappear as if they were never there. If you're roasting on the beach, you may actually welcome them. Don't even think about hitting the beach without sunscreen.
