So why on earth would anyone name a service "Home STAGING" and expect that people are going to react positively to it?? Very good question!? Would home staging be better received if it were referred to as something else?? How about calling it "Property Primping" or " Real Estate Enhancement"???
Shakespeare said it best,? "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet."? In other words; it is what it is!? Call it what you like, but home staging remains THE MOST valuable tool in your arsenal? to sell quickly and for the most money!
Unfortunately, many of the terms associated with home staging have negative implications: de-clutter, depersonalize, neutralize, etc.? Who wants a complete stranger coming into their home to suggest that their beloved treasures are "clutter"!?? The nerve!? How about the idea of "depersonalizing" YOUR OWN home!!??? Outrageous!? And for the love of Pete! ... What on earth does "neutralizing" mean?!?
If you've decided to list your home for sale you've ALREADY begun the process of detachment!? Your home should no longer be viewed as YOUR home, but as a PRODUCT!!?? If you want to sell any product, you want to make sure you've got a great marketing plan in place!? That's where home staging is ESSENTIAL!??
What's going to make your home stand out from the competition is how you've prepared it for market!? Of the 2 cakes pictured below, which one would you prefer?...
I'm guessing you picked the first cake.? Now WHY would you pick that one?!? Underneath all that loveliness, it's identical to the second cake!? And therein lies the TRUTH... 2 identical homes on the real estate market are just like these 2 cakes but with ONE, HUGE, SIGNIFICANT difference...one looks much more expensive and appealing!? So if you are going to list your home for sale, what's going to make your home stand out from the competition!?? It's all about the icing on the cake!? :)
